My Take on the Medical Fee Payment for Returning Students – Moradeyo Ifedayo Johnson

At the last Business Meeting of the Students’ House of Senate (SHS), I co-sponsored a bill about the urgent and immediate need to reinvigorate the University’s Health Centre.

The bill raises numbers of serious issues, notably:

  1. Neglect of duty of many health centre staff.
  2. Nonchalant attitudes of the health centre staff to patients(who are majorly my constituents, students).
  3. Inhumane treatments of patients by the staff
  4. Lack of basic drugs and other medical needs expected to be at any health centre.

It will interest you to know that all these happens despite the payment of 5,000 naira and 4,000 naira as Medical Fee by Fresh Students and present 200level students respectively.

As a Senator who is concerned about the constituents he represents, I stand against the payment of any fee whatsoever (no matter the amount) as Medical Fee for Returning students (200 to 400level).

As such, students are strongly advised not to go ahead with the payment.

At the next Business Meeting of the Students’ House of Senate, I shall be arguing vibrantly against the payment, as it is a means of extorting TASUEDITES.

TASUEDITES should trust that it will be fought to a stand still.

Yours In Struggle:
